They say never take life too seriously; you will never get out of it alive anyway.
Some live it lost; detoured by destiny ... More obey the nature; following the norms … and few made their own path. I am one of the few persons who choose to make their lives originally worth living.
If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.
I spent my childhood travelling with my family. We weren’t quite sure when we will be back home, neither what would be our next destination. In order to be ready to all circumstances, I had to study during the day in the residence’s country school, and after class, study home the Tunisian schools program. Dad was my only Tunisian school teacher for years.
Two totally different systems, not only when it comes to the programs but also the languages, the numbers ‘writing, the approach ... I felt like Alice in wonderland; jumping between two parallel worlds every day and night.
Why am I telling you this?
Cause, now that I grow up and people keep asking me about my success ‘keys. The first thing that comes to my mind is the picture of that tiny little girl always with a victory sign and a tongue out in every picture.
I look back to those years of my childhood, and I ask myself: why she did it? How come? Her peers were running out home after classes to play and watch cartoons, while she was doing more classes. And, as much as she was spoiled and fragile, she accepted patiently all the yelling and unsupportive remarks she was dealing with everyday. She kept trying doing her best to improve herself, asking questions, working harder every time...while her peers might find it an excuse to quit the classes and get the chance for more free time to play.
The only answer I got is that not only she wanted to learn, but she had chosen to learn. She was determined to learn.
Models say always that you need find yourself first, in order to find your way in this world. You should follow your patient and choose what you want do or can excel in. Yet, they forget to tell us how we can really be able to choose and make a decision about something we totally ignore. We don’t know it even exists. Ten years ago, I didn’t know that there is something called personal development. I didn’t even know that I can make it my career. It is ironically silly, same affect when you ask someone’s opinion about the lemon or strawberries flavor when all he has ever tried is chocolate.
That’s why I had never missed any opportunity to discover a new path and learn, and that’s how I have started my journey to find my way, walking hand by hand, step by step with that little curious girl.
I wasn’t studying to pass my year, neither working to get paid. For me, what matters in learning is not the results. Learning has always been my choice to become everyday better than the person I was yesterday. Learning has been a life process to follow my passion. It overwhelmed me with confident and perseverance, to believe that I am able to succeed. And, that I can create miracles.
The more you are curious enough to discover new paths, the more you have better choices and exploit new potentials. I absolutely think that’s the only way you can make sure you are really aware about what you want and what you can do. And, once you can see clearly where you are going, focus on your goals and forget about negative people, everything else becomes details.
The self is not something one finds, it is something one creates
Negative people are not always people who envy you or try to break you down. They can be people who love you so much that they are worried about you. They think that’s how they can protect you. They can also be people who are not familiar with success and originality. How can you expect that they believe in you when they barely believe in themselves?
Many people looked to my life as a painting, but they were drawn in the outside frame. They couldn’t enjoy the art. They kept asking why she is acting foolish, why she is wondering all the time.
Following my journey, from computer science, to entrepreneurship, to Geomatic, to personal development… from education to business, to NGOs and companies … They said she is lost. They weren’t able to see the castle I am building with the different pieces of the puzzle. Everything I have done in my life brought me in a way or another to the person who I am proud to be today.
And that’s the whole difference in my learning process. I never considered myself a machine that I have to fix some parts and change others. I think is a total insult to humanity that anyone of us may consider himself so.
We are God’s favorite creatures. There is no possible mistake in you, been born. You are precious for who you really are, and your mission is to find the special gift you have and share it with the world, so it becomes a better place. Living your life trying to follow the crowd, been a shadow or unaware of your own added value is a total waste.
Why should we always be worried about things we need to improve in ourselves? Why should be all be good in maths, in languages…? Be extraverted or introverted? Why can’t we just be proud of who we are? And instead of looking for what is going wrong, work on improving our strengths? Isn’t more valuable and efficient? Just think about it: Be the best version of you.
Some maybe be touched, others may say nice words. So, are you saying that in order to find your way in this world, you need to learn and trust yourself? That’s it? My answer is definitely NO, it is not enough.
